A Profound Good Received by the Sisters is At the Basis of Pope Francis’ Service in the Church
In the Pontiff’s words, also the personal memory of Sister María Dolores Tortolo, his first catechist
Service to God, to the Church and to neighbor is the trait that unites the Congregations of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice and the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, received today in audience by Pope Francis.
An audience marked by a personal childhood memory was the one granted June 6 at the Vatican by Pope Francis to the congregations of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice and the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, on the occasion of their respective general chapters. To the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, in fact, the Pontiff has been linked since childhood:
It was in one of your schools, in Buenos Aires, in the Flores neighborhood, that many years ago I received the Sacraments of Christian initiation. How can we forget dear Hermana Dolores, from whom I learned so much and whom I continued to visit for so long? For this I thank the Lord and all of you, because my present service to the Church is also the fruit of the good I received, at an early age, from your religious family.
