The Instrumentum laboris (IL2)

On 9th July 2024 His Eminent Card. Mario Grech, Secretary General Of The General Secretariat of the Synod presented the Instrumentum laboris (IL2) for the Second Session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops (2-27 October)

Here are the key points:

• Missionary Synodal Church: Focuses on making the Church closer to people and less bureaucratic, with all baptized individuals participating in its life.
• Role of Women: Emphasizes the need for greater recognition and participation of women in all areas of the Church’s life.
• Participation and Responsibility: Calls for wider participation of women in decision-making processes and positions of responsibility.
• Theological Reflection: Continues the discussion on the admission of women to the diaconal ministry.

The document is structured in five sections:

1. Introduction: The document reflects on the journey so far and highlights milestones, including the widespread use of the synodal methodology of the Spiritual Conversation.
