St. Vincent Patronage supports the poor and prisoners

The Patronato San Vincenzo in Bergamo, founded by the Servant of God Don Giuseppe Vavassori, is a tangible example of how the Church lives out the works of mercy

This institution, funded by the Diocese of Bergamo, embodies the evangelical mission of bringing love and hope to those in need. She is dedicated to welcoming unaccompanied foreign minors and young people serving alternative sentences, offering them a path of rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

Additionally, it manages services for adult inmates, workshops in the local prison for labor reintegration, and projects for the homeless.

The mission also extends beyond Italy’s borders, with a commitment in Bolivia to support at-risk boys and girls. Don Dario Acquaroli, chaplain of the Bergamo prison and director of the Comunità Don Lorenzo Milani, emphasizes the importance of seeing each person as unique in God’s eyes, regardless of their mistakes.

He states: “We save people only if we manage to give them all the possible love.” This approach deeply reflects the message of the Gospel and the invitation to practice mercy, especially during the Jubilee, a favorable time to renew commitment to the works of mercy.
