Sister Simona Brambilla Prefect | The Joy of spazio + spadoni
“We join with joy the universal Church in celebrating the appointment of Sister Simona Brambilla as Prefect of the Dicastery for Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life”
“May Sister Brambilla’s experience and dedication be a guide and inspiration for consecrated men and women throughout the world, so that they may continue to bear strong witness to the value of evangelical service and mission”.
This is how Luigi Spadoni, founder of the movement born to spread the works of mercy, of which the sisters themselves are the first promoters, expresses himself on Pope Francis’ choice of the first female prefect within the Roman Curia.
For there is news that enlarges the heart more than others.
And for spazio + spadoni, the appointment of Sister Simona Brambilla is one of them “because our attention has always been focused on women religious from all over the world, with the intention of giving them the space they deserve, to make known their charisms, projects, experiences and to support them”.
Sister Simona Brambilla, former superior general in Italy of the Missionaries of the Consolata for two terms, was also in Mozambique after her perpetual profession in 1999, as head of youth ministry at the Macua Xirima study center in the Maúa district.
“To learn that a missionary holds this office at the beginning of a Jubilee year that invites us to be ‘pilgrims of hope’ gives us an even greater charge. Because we believe that the face of an outgoing Church can help us all to be more missionary”, Spadoni continued.
Sr. Simona Brambilla makes us, therefore, well hopeful that the situations of the world and the narrative of all Institutes of Consecrated Life will reach the hearts of each one even more, with the sensitivity and synodal concern that we all expect.
Certain that this news will be a source of enthusiasm, gratitude and new impetus for all women religious as well, we take this opportunity to reiterate our closeness and availability to them, in the knowledge that mercy and union have the power to generate change.
