Sr. Petrini | Artificial intelligence a tool in the service of humanity
Last October, Sr. Raffaella Petrini at the Global Standard Symposium: “shared policies” for the development of new technologies
Sister Raffaella Petrini, who has been president of the Governorate of Vatican City State since March 1, while she was still secretary general last October, attended the Global Standard Symposium in New Delhi, emphasizing the importance of shared policies to guide the ethical and responsible development of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
She highlighted that, although AI represents a significant technological advancement, it must remain a tool at the service of humanity, promoting the common good and respecting fundamental human rights.
Sister Petrini stressed the need for honest international dialogue to establish safety standards and ethical principles in the use of AI, promoting a “true cognitive-industrial revolution” that centers on mercy and respect for human dignity.
She also proposed the creation of an international agency to develop a regulatory framework for the peaceful use of AI, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among states to ensure that technology serves the good of every human being.
