Three hundred and sixty-five days all yet to be lived, and to be filled with meaning, encounters, works of mercy…
It is a thought, this, that on the one hand can arouse euphoria, with the adrenaline of one who begins a new thing, and, on the other, requires responsibility, with the commitment of one who wants to make things new.
Let these be the attitudes of the inhabitants of Space + Swords, as they already have been in the year that has just ended. And be the coordinates that move the world, in the year that has just begun. Enthusiasm and responsibility; passion and diligence; joyful attention to others.
There is a whole humanity out there waiting for mercy, needing works so that their lives or even a single day might change. There are men and women – of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, religious denominations – who have the right to live with dignity but are denied the opportunity.
There are situations that we must “take to heart”.
In this, we can follow the example and wake of the many people of good will in every corner of the Earth, first and foremost the missionaries and missionaries who, on a daily basis, spend their lives for others.
And then there is us, with our merits and our defects, with our energies and our limitations, with our achievements and our mistakes, with our desire to give and receive love…
Mercy, in fact, is a gift that one must also learn to receive, because in this is realized the humility of those who rediscover themselves poor and the beauty of feeling thought of and loved by someone.
