Hagiography
Marcellinus lived in the 6th century, was born into a Boccamajore family, and was the sixth bishop of Ancona between 550 and 568, the year of his death. Marcellinus was considered a “holy man and full of zeal for the sanctification of the people.” The Roman martyrology reports the legend, handed down in writing by Pope Gregory I, that the bishop of Ancona, in the 6th century, saved his city from a fire: Marcellinus had gota and was obliged to be carried by servants.
