Pilgrims of hope
The director of Friendly Heart, Fr. Flavio Saleri, describes Lent as “a special time to kindle lights of justice and solidarity on the shadows of a closed world”
The poor are many, of every language, religion, people, and nation, and “their prayer crosses the clouds, nor is quiet until it has come (Sir 35:17). They have a privileged place in God’s heart to such an extent that, before their suffering, God himself is impatient until he has done them justice.” (Pope Francis).
It is in this spirit that we appeal to your generosity, to help children and families in the favelas in Brazil; for the emancipation of women in Africa; for the emergency of the casteless Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Our solidarity with the poor makes us “pilgrims of hope” in the transformation of the world.
Ours is a gesture that opens the door of our lives to such an extent that they also enter us.
If through Friendly Heart many benefactors help the poor, it means that we fulfill the same synodal path together.
In this Jubilee Holy Year, let us listen to the voice of those who give hope every day to the poor and follow them to create together with them “Ties of welcome and solidarity.”
I wish you a good Lenten journey in solidarity.
(Don Flavio Saleri, director of Cuore Amico)
