Pontifical Academy for Life Holds General Assembly
Pontifical Academy for Life holds a General Assembly on “The End of the World?”
The 30th General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy for Life took place in the Vatican on March 3-5. Nobel Laureates, planetologists, physicists, biologists, paleoanthropologists, theologians, and historians gathered in the Vatican for the International Conference on the theme “The End of the World? Crises, Responsibilities, Hopes“.
The Assembly focused on different aspects, trying to give answers to some most challenging questions: can life develop only in the forms we know? Can population growth, globalisation endanger the survival of humanity? Is it possible to have development of scientific and technological knowledge without law, politics, or ethics? How can we educate the younger generation to think creatively and cultivate hope?
Here you can find Abstracts – Lectures and Posters of the Conferences and the YouTube playlist of videos of the main sessions.
The Holy Father sent a message of encouragement to the Assembly participants to commit themselves with determination for “more effective world organizations, equipped with the power to provide for the global common good, the elimination of hunger and poverty, and the sure defence of fundamental human rights” (Encyclical Letter Fratelli tutti, 172)
