Painting, autism and the beauty that “illuminates” Chiara

So much beauty shines through in the paintings of Chiara Costa, a 28-year-old autistic girl who, thanks to her artistic training, has begun to be passionate about painting.
Her paintings excite and are very sunny: a continuous play of strong color contrasts portray, in a fairy-tale way, nature, butterflies, flowers, horses, mountains, sky and sea.
More than 40 paintings are already in other people’s homes. “I like the light that comes out of the colors of nature,” Chiara Costa says, giving me a big smile. ”I also like to paint the sea and, above all, lots of flowers. In some paintings I painted butterflies and a horse with a mane full of lots of flowers. I also paint earth, water and fire. Painting makes me feel very good because it is my life. I am happy with this happy art path of mine.”
Being her operating arm in public relations, flanking and supporting her in all her needs is, every day, her mother, Grazia Giuffrida. Together with her, Chiara loves to take many walks in the mountains and at the sea…
