Over 260 Prelates from Around the World at Vatican for a Formation

Formation and communion, course for new bishops at Vatican

The initiative that brought together more than 260 prelates ordained in the past 12 months from around the world, including from mission territories, organized by the Dicasteries for Bishops, for the Oriental Churches and for Evangelization, ended Saturday, Sept. 21. Los Angeles auxiliary Szkredka: “We had the opportunity to get to know each other, exchange experiences and pray together.”

The formation for new bishops that began on Sunday, September 15, is a now traditional event in the work of the Curia. The course-organized by the Dicastery for Bishops, the Dicastery for the Oriental Churches and the Dicastery for Evangelization (Section for First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches)-this year brought together 267 presulles ordained in the past 12 months from around the world, both from areas where the Church has been present for centuries and from mission lands. New bishops from Eastern Churches are also present.
