Murales por la Paz: art as a bridge between cultures and hope
The Murales por la Paz project is an initiative that combines art, mission and mercy in a work of great spiritual and social value
This project, which began in Nairobi, Kenya, in December 2023, fits into the context of the works of mercy, one of the central aspects of the Gospel.
During the Jubilee year, the initiative aims to spread the message of peace and hope through the universal language of art, creating murals that represent symbols of hope and solidarity in local communities.
Each mural becomes a tangible sign of mission, a concrete testimony of God’s mercy. The works were created together with members of the local communities, in a gesture of sharing and collaboration.
In particular, a mural of the Virgin of Guadalupe was painted for Latin American migrants, offering a message of welcome and mercy.
Additionally, murals were painted in places such as the Familia ya Ufariji shelter for street children, and in the areas of Loiyangalani and Mombasa, where art becomes a means to overcome social challenges and promote peace.
This project demonstrates how art can become a powerful tool for proclaiming the Gospel and performing works of mercy, building bridges between different cultures and hopes.
