“Mamma mia, what happiness!”

Very often, the generosity of the Poor surprises us. Young Alessandra’s experience in Thailand…

(by Alessandra Lisippo)

After a quiet night spent km 48 our cozy village, I realized I had lost my wallet.

Wallet 2At first I was a little worried but after talking to my group, our Pandri ( or rather Pandri’) as the French call him here and Fr. Alex I felt good.

I carved out a moment for myself, reflected, looked at what I had around me and thanked God.
I lived the present without trying to, without thinking about it.

It may sound strange but living the present well is not always possible even always easy but in Thailand this happened to me.

Father Alex informs all the faithful, before the final blessing of the Mass, about this incident and just after ten minutes a family returns my wallet.
Wallet 3I could not believe what was happening… mamma mia, what happiness!!!

Once I get to the village, the lady hugs me, thanks me and wraps my neck and side with a purse saying in Thai, “so you don’t lose it anymore money you have to keep it in there.”
Wallet 4What a motherly, welcoming gesture as if to say, “Welcome to Thailand.” I think words are important, but gestures are even more so because they show. I will treasure this memory in my heart.

The experience ended in the best way also thanks to the amazing pasta with meat sauce prepared by Filippo!
In short, “A wonderful day overdone( not so much) overdone, without respite!!!!”
