Francis: close to the sick, frail like me
In yesterday’s Angelus, the Pope from Gemelli addressed the “so many sick brothers and sisters: frail, at this time” like himself
In the Angelus of March 15, 2025, Pope Francis reflects on the transformative light of Jesus’ Transfiguration, emphasizing how it represents the infinite love that guides and supports us in times of difficulty.
The Holy Father shares his personal experience of illness, expressing solidarity with all who face physical fragility, and invites us to see in others, especially the suffering, the reflection of God’s light.
A touching moment was his encounter with the children who visited him at the Gemelli Hospital, bringing joy and human warmth. The Pope thanked these young ones for their closeness, recognizing in them a tangible sign of mercy and Christian love. He also expressed gratitude for the prayers and support received, highlighting the importance of community in the mission to spread the Gospel.
The Pope’s thoughts extended to nations ravaged by war, urging prayers for peace and the end of conflicts. He called on everyone to perform works of mercy, especially towards the most vulnerable, as a concrete expression of faith.
He also encouraged the Church to continue on its synodal path, strengthening unity and commitment to the evangelizing mission. In this Jubilee, he urged a renewal of commitment to the values of the Gospel, living authentically the call to holiness and solidarity.
