EoF School 4th Edition: Capitals and Capabilities in the On-Life Era

The digital revolution

The EoF School starts its free online 4th edition, tackling the profound transformations in the global economy, specifically focusing on the interplay between the digital and real aspects of our lives

Pope Francis has emphasized that reality is always bigger than our ideas. One of the main factors driving transformation worldwide is the digital revolution. The internet and AI systems have greatly influenced both human and non-human experiences.

The 4th edition of the EoF School focuses on this change and explores the different types of capital (spiritual, relational, social, economic, environmental, etc.) and the concept of capabilities (basic human skills).

In his recent address to the EoF community, the Pope encouraged finding unity amidst the contradictions of the global economy. The division between real and digital life, online and offline, does not fully capture the experiences of people around the world.

We now live in the “on-life era,” where the digital and real worlds interact and impact each other. Therefore, the 4th EoF school will explore the question: what forms of capital are needed to address the challenges of the on-life era? What capabilities are essential for human experiences in this digital age? By examining the new and old forms of capital and capabilities, we hope to gain insights into addressing global issues such as inequality, discrimination, poverty, exclusion, and more.

The commitment of young people in the EoF movement to fighting injustices and giving meaning to the world economy remains unchanged. It is crucial to understand how to adapt this commitment to the on-life era.
