DR Congo, one step closer to widening conflict
Congo DR is facing an unprecedented crisis. The conflict in North and South Kivu threatens to spread regionally
The United Nations has raised concerns about the real risk of the conflict spreading, potentially impacting peace and stability in the Great Lakes region. The UN Security Council has acknowledged the danger of the crisis involving other states directly, but so far, no concrete measures have been taken to end the war. In this context, the mission of the Catholic Church becomes crucial.
Through the works of mercy, the Church is called to bring the Gospel of peace and hope, promoting reconciliation and dialogue among different factions.
The Jubilee, a time of grace and forgiveness, offers a unique opportunity to renew the commitment to peace and justice, inviting all the faithful to actively participate in building a more fraternal and supportive society. In this period of hardship, it is essential for the international community and the Church to unite efforts to support the Congolese people, providing humanitarian aid and promoting peace initiatives that reflect divine mercy.
