Diocese of Monreale | “The care of words, words as care”
From March 28-30, the Education Week-end “The Care of Words, Words as Care” will be held in the Diocese of Monreale, Sicily
An event that was inspired by the concept of synodality so much invoked by Pope Francis and the Archbishop and that involves several Diocesan Pastoral Offices and Services: School, University, IRC, Family, Youth, Social Communication, Catechetical, Child Protection and Basic Theology School.
As Father Luca Leone, episcopal delegate for diocesan pastoral care, explains, it has now “become a regular event in recent years, especially after the pandemic.” The intent is to “bring together different Offices, which together support a basic choice: that of responding to the solicitations of the news and the everyday.”
All have, in fact, in common the goal of creating an opportunity for discussion on the very sensitive topic of the use of words in school, family and parish settings.
“This year, in particular, in the light of the relational style of Christ, the focus will be on the use of words, even among the closest educational figures (parents, teachers, educators), because sometimes there has been a lack of attention in this regard.” continues the priest, who is also the president of the Institute for the Support of the Clergy of the Diocese of Monreale.
Every word creates or destroys, heals or wounds, brings us closer or drives us away:
our hearts are responsible for this.
Words can encourage or offend, support or humiliate, give consolation or existential distrust, create applause or incite punches, bestow peace or create hatred. The words still leave a mark.
In three different places in the diocese, from March 28-30, we will experience as a diocesan Church in synod style this formative moment with the competent guidance of experts.
Taking care of words in relationships is a gesture of humanity, responsibility and participation.
A gesture of love. One word is not worth the other!
