Congo Rd | Threats against Catholic and Protestant Church foiled
Kinshasa police foil threats against Catholic and Protestant churches by supporters of the ruling party
On Feb. 16, 2025, in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, church services in Catholic parishes and Protestant churches were held without problems.
However, in Nd’jili, some protesters tried to disrupt the mass, but police intervention prevented this from happening.
Threats came from supporters of the ruling party, the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), who were protesting meetings between religious and political leaders, including those with Paul Kagame and Corneille Nangaa, which resulted in the “Social Pact for Living Together in the DRC.”
This agreement aims to resolve the long-standing crisis in the east of the country, and the Church’s mission fits into this process through works of mercy, promoting peace and social justice.
In this context, the Jubilee of Mercy is an opportunity to intensify dialogue and collaboration toward a future of serenity, supported by the Church and its works of mercy.
