The Apparitions of Our Lady of Laus

Our Lady of Laus (which in the Occitan language means Our Lady of the Lake), is the appellation by which Catholics venerate Mary, following the apparitions she had for a full 54 years, between 1664 and 1718, to the French shepherdess Benedetta Rencurel, first at Saint-Étienne-le-Laus, her hometown, then at Laus, where the shrine now stands. Benedetta – a simple shepherdess – could neither read nor write, but to her the Mother of God entrusted an important message at a time when the so-called wars of religion were raging in Europe: an invitation to the conversion of sinners and to experience in God’s mercy reconciliation…
