Cardinal Tagle: Be Advocates of Mercy and Forgiveness

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle celebrated the Perdonanza in the city of Bibione

The call for mercy, reconciliation and forgiveness in a world yearning for peace characterized the entire visit of Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, who, on Aug. 3, presided over the opening celebration of the Perdonanza in the city of Bibione in the Diocese of Concordia-Pordenone. The cardinal’s visit was also motivated by the commemoration of Cardinal Celso Costantini, the first apostolic delegate to China and secretary of Propaganda Fide, who is buried in his home diocese, one hundred years after the celebration of the Shanghai Concilium Sinense, already celebrated with two major events in May and June at the Urbaniana University.

The opening of the Door of Forgiveness

Welcomed and accompanied by diocesan bishop Monsignor Joseph Pellegrini, Tagle opened the Door of Forgiveness and entered it first carrying the book of the Gospels followed by all the people. He then presided over the Eucharist, concelebrated by numerous priests, diocesans, guests and collaborators for the summer pastoral activity in the well-known seaside resort on the Veneto coast.
