The second training course on works of mercy for sisters who are disciples of Christ in Bururi communities

On January 24, 2025, a training session on the revolution of the Works of Mercy was held at Monseigneur Bernard Bududira Nursery School.

The first part was presented by Sister Pétronie TOYI, ambassador of spazio + spadoni. She spoke about spazio + spadoni and the Works of Mercy.

Starting from our Holy Father’s insistence that every Christian should practice the works of mercy, Sister Petronie took the opportunity to explain and talk about the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. She showed that they are charitable actions by which we come to the aid of our neighbor in their spiritual and corporal needs.

In these acts of mercy, he recalled how Pope Francis insisted on these works:
“I have a great desire, that the Christian people reflect on corporal and spiritual works of mercy. It will be a way to work on our conscience, which is often asleep when faced with the tragedy of poverty, and to penetrate ever more deeply into the heart of the Gospel, where the poor are the privileged recipients of divine mercy. Jesus’ preaching gives us a picture of these works of mercy, so that we can understand whether we are living like his disciples” (Misericordia Vultus. 15).

We consecrated persons cannot ignore this invitation of the Holy Father to reflect on and practice the works of Mercy.

To carry them out, we must know how to develop plans to promote them in our communities.

This is the second part of the formation outlined by Mother General, Mother Odette GAKUNZI, who developed the theme and defined the steps of the project.

Then, the sisters practiced in the groups by coming up with an exemplary project.
