Bishop Trasarti: Eucharist Instrument of Reintegration also in Prison
On the occasion of the solemnity of Corpus Christi, the emeritus of Fano, Fossombrone, Cagli and Pergola recounts his experience among the inmates of the diocese
“The Body of Jesus communicates to the inmates that they are not a foreign body, but members of the Church and society.”
On Fridays at 10 a.m. – the time may vary depending on the needs of the institute – everything is ready for the interviews: there are those who ask him for concrete help, those who ask for a word of comfort, others just drop by to exchange a smile or a nod from afar; on Sundays at 9 a.m., punctually, the Mass, “to bring the Gospel and the Eucharist, the two tools we have as Church to guide the inmates towards hope and towards a return to society.”
For the past year, this has been the life that Monsignor, or rather, Don Armando Trasarti, bishop emeritus of Fano, Fossombrone, Cagli and Pergola in and out of the Fermo prison, has been leading after the current bishop, Monsignor Rocco Pennacchio, proposed this assignment to him. “It is my obedience to the bishop and to Jesus who loves especially those who suffer,” he explains.
