“As if it were today” | Tales from Muhanga 10

From the diary of Father Giovanni Piumatti during his time in Muhanga (North Kivu). Reflections still relevant today

Nothing is wasted…

It is about thirty bean grains; and Bené is all busy collecting them, one by one.

The parents do the distribution of the aid: 5 tons of food! The other 6 tons are still in Bingi-because of the last 42 km.

It is great this gesture of Bené!

The others are still maneuvering huge sacks, huge quantities of beans, and there she is, leaning over 30 small beans.

We took her picture, to convey to you the two messages she gives us: nothing goes to waste…especially food…. Even if you have a lot of it. nothing is too small, insignificant, as an event, as a gesture. And it’s up to us to emphasize it,

Let’s not settle for what the press and TV tell us.
Let us look for ourselves for what others want to hide.
