Amadou, from Senegal to Palermo thanks to the SAI Network
From Senegal to Palermo thanks to the SAI Network. The story of the boy deaf from birth: “After so much suffering today I smile at life”
PALERMO-With a disarmingly sunny smile, Amadou Diouf welcomes all the people he meets, conveying an extraordinary vitality. Although, in fact, the young man is deaf from birth, he has a very beautiful facial expressiveness.
Amadou, originally from Senegal, was welcomed, in 2023, to Casa dei Mirti of the Waldensian Diaconal Center “La Noce,” which has been part, since 2021, of the SAI (Sistema Accoglienza e Integrazione) Network for unaccompanied foreign minors.
Taking the young man – now 19 years old – by the hand and accompanying him on his delicate path of social inclusion have been many people. Amadou recently won the Italian Deaf Soccer A5 under21 Championship.
All this happened thanks to the collaboration between the Centro Diaconale, the ‘Ente Nazionale per la protezione e l’assistenza delle persone deord in Italia (SP ENS) Palermo and the GSS Asd Modena at which the young man is now a member. With this team, the young man is Italian Soccer A 5 champion and vice champion of Europe.
