A historic and extraordinary event at the Vatican

Sister Simona Brambilla, Consolata missionary becomes the first woman prefect of the Dicastery of Consecrated Life. Card.Fernandez Artime SDB appointed Pro Prefect

With immense joy and deep gratitude, the space + spadoni Movement celebrates the historic appointment of Sister Brambilla as Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, announced by Pope Francis.

This event, unprecedented in the history of the Catholic Church, marks an extraordinary step toward the recognition of the crucial role women play in the ecclesial community and society as a whole.

Pope Francis’ decision to entrust this responsibility to Sister Brambilla is not only a tribute to her extraordinary dedication and competence, but also represents a tangible sign of the Church’s commitment to greater inclusiveness and female participation in its governance structures.

It is a message loud and clear:

women, who have always been the beating heart of consecrated life,
are called to contribute their voice and vision
even at the highest levels of decision-making and leadership.

Sister Brambilla is an inspirational figure. Her life, dedicated to serving the weakest and promoting human dignity, fully reflects the values that spazio + spadoni seeks to uphold every day.

Our movement, which is dedicated to supporting sisters around the world, recognizes in this appointment a confirmation of the mission that guides us: to highlight the importance of women’s charism in Church and Society, and to offer concrete tools to amplify its impact.

The work of the sisters is often invisible to the eyes of the world, yet it is fundamental.

It is they who, in the most remote and forgotten places on the Planet, bring hope, education, health care and spiritual comfort. It is they who embody the works of mercy in action, turning the words of the Gospel into daily reality.

In this sense, Sister Brambilla’s nomination is also a recognition for all women religious who, with humility and determination, dedicate their lives to the service of others.

As spazio + spadoni, we feel particularly close to this historic event.
Our commitment is to support these extraordinary women by offering them resources, training and collaborative networks that can enhance their work and increase their capacity for impact.

Sister Brambilla’s appointment encourages us to continue with renewed determination, knowing that our contribution is part of a larger context of renewal and openness in the Church.

This moment of joy also invites us to reflection.

The Church is called to be a sign of unity and hope for the world, and this necessarily passes through the recognition of the dignity and value of every person.
Pope Francis’ choice is an invitation to all of us to promote a culture of respect and collaboration, where differences are not a reason for division, but a resource for common growth.

In conclusion, we would like to express our heartfelt best wishes to Sister Brambilla for this new mission.
May the Lord guide and support her in this very important task, and may her leadership be a source of inspiration for the whole Church.
With her, we celebrate a new chapter in ecclesial history, which we hope will bear abundant fruits of renewal and hope for future generations.

We also welcome with joy the appointment of Cardinal Angel Fernandez Artime SDB as Pro-Prefect of the same dicastery.

May the Spirit guide and bless Sr. Simona and Cardinal Angel in their new roles, filling them with courage and grace to lead this dicastery into the future.
