Remaining oneself without homologating

Being a woman today, as well as yesterday, is not always easy. However, it is important to remain oneself, without homologating

(by Rossella Natoli)

So many things come to my mind, going through my heart, thinking about the word “woman.”

Even as a child I felt a “great weight” on it; only in appearance was it light and for that reason fascinating.

Being able to embrace and express the many facets that a woman has within her requires sacrifice and effort. But, often, working on it brings her out and gives her great satisfaction.

Even today we live in a society where the creative aspect typical of women, in comparison, seems fragile; and many times it remains unexpressed precisely because she does not want to feel “different,” misunderstood.

Woman, however, has proven over time that she too is strong and can keep up with men, that her abilities are certainly not inferior, but rather complementary.

Yet, today, as a mature woman, I realize that we find our fulfillment within ourselves and that there is no need to project ourselves outside in constant confrontation.

Only by accepting ourselves, recognizing and valuing frailties and resources,
will we make a significant and important contribution to society as a whole.

We must take care of what sets us apart and defend our distinctiveness without being homogenized by the society in which we are immersed.

Free to be and express our nature, without fear of judgment, able to grasp those details and embrace the differences that make each human being unique and unrepeatable.
Just as a mother does with her children, we will be leading and together with men can give a new face to this world.

That attentive, welcoming gaze, to which nothing escapes, is indeed our greatest strength, capable of giving warmth and regenerating hearts.
